I, on the other hand, don't really understand the need to put children in swimsuits at all. Many kids love swimming naked and should be allowed to do so, without out anyone shaming or sexualizing their bodies. After nude, swimming in bottoms only makes sense to me. But if little girls want to wear bikinis, they

That suit is offensive for reasons that have nothing to do with sexualizing a child

My favorite childhood picture of myself is in a bikini - my sisters had bikinis as well. Often, as very young children (like under 6) we would wear them without tops - just frilly bottoms. Nobody seemed to mind - but it was the 70's. Sometimes I wonder if the obsession with the sexualization of small kids does

While we were following the news last night, Mr. Unicornz and I both had the same reaction to the details of his capture - we felt so alone for him, wounded, hiding in a boat all day long, just having seen his brother die. After a long discussion about these feelings, we decided that we can feel empathy for this

I'm confused - might she have a tripart name and only be known by two Anglicized (in terms of spelling and order) names by her friends and classmates? I have two very good friends who were born in Korea and I only know both of them by their Americanized first and last name.

A number of times I've heard Europeans (in France & the UK) lament the fact that Native peoples in North America were completely wiped out, and then be shocked when I explain to them there are millions of Native Americans in the US.

Very true.

At least in my experience, many Europeans are under the impression that Native American identity is extinct, or nearly extinct, and think of Native Americans (as an idea) similarly to disappeared European cultures, like vikings or celts.

This - I'm surprised it is so deep in the comments. I recently handed out AlkaSeltzer during a particularly waisted wedding weekend, I didn't get many takers, but those I did were converted.

Certainly, the kinds of epithets hurled at MT are blatantly sexist. But I think part of the vitriol toward Thatcher in the UK is that it is generally a center-left country and she was a Reagan model, American style conservative - something that has gone out of style over there.

Aren't all comments in the "pending submission" section first?

Maybe it was. It is hard to tell sometimes, especially before the third cup of coffee.

I'm so curious about whether the trolls will get through in this new system, though sometimes interesting conversations amongst jezzies came from feeding them. Already on this post, someone has got my ire up (Dropdick Suckclit, what a name!). We'll see what happens to him.

I love the look, like the commenting system, but I miss all the navigation buttons to link me to the Gawker Media universe. From groupthink, there is no link back to Jezebel that I can find. I really liked the array of links at the bottom showing recent stories from other sites. I suppose I can use my bookmarks, but

You seem very adamant, and somewhat upset, but I have to say even with all your data, I am not sure what your point is. You don't like my understanding of the words "most" or "killed"?

You are reading way too much into my comments, dude. But you seem to really enjoy statistics so I'm glad I've given you an outlet for this.

As I updated, I meant to say that most women _who are killed_ are killed by men they are in relationships with.

Sure - I agree with a lot of what you are saying - but that is radically different than your initial claim that most scientists don't agree on climate change.

Sorry - should have said - "most women who are killed are killed by men they are in relationships with."

I automatically assume that if a woman is found dead in a man's house from a gunshot wound that they were in a relationship and the man shot her. It's probably not fair to assume that, but most women are killed by men they are in relationships with.
