You are conflating “pedophiles” and “pedophilia”. And I never claimed there was any kind of treatment “proven to work for” any sexual orientation. Your lack of reading comprehension skills doesn’t negate or “disprove” any of my points (that you completely missed).

and by the way , treatment for hepatitis B and HIV, do not mean cure either

When I said treatment I never implied “cure” - that was just your straw man.

Ah, so you are going to completely ignore the fact that your link completely backfired on you because it actually supports my point? Too embarrassed to admit that you didn’t even bother reading past the second sentence, eh?

No, you made that statement in response to my reply to someone else.

Yes, as you made that statement in response to my argument against not providing treatment for pedophiles who have committed offenses against someone because they have committed that offense. By going on to say that they should, indeed, receive treatment (in prison) is backpedaling on the meaning of your reply within

I don’t know why you keep assuming I am against treatment.

Pedophiles are adults

You are just trying to romanticize pedophilia.

I’m not against treatment

“Not really” what?

That there is no “proven treatment” (“treatment” is not necessarily “cure”, by the way) for any given affliction is no reason to not try to treat that affliction. Even something like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is worth trying as treatment (it would actually be the most logical first step / mandatory treatment I can

Your comment indicates that you believe that nobody who has committed an offense deserves treatment because they can’t be “fixed”. Since treatment could actually help prevent them from victimizing more people in the future, then the denying them treatment is essentially choosing to let them victimize more people over

When did I say that someone who has only viewed child pornography has never victimized anyone?

The purpose would be for the inflicted to learn how to properly deal with the compulsions that are inherent with the infliction, if not to also properly diagnose something that could be treated with medication to lessen either compulsive drive or strengthen control they could exercise over it. It’s not about “fixing”,

Oops - that next-to-last part should read, “And should people with psychiatric disorders who have actually been compelled to commit crimes because of them NOT receive help for their disorder because of the fact that it got so bad they actually acted on it? That doesn’t really make much sense.”

While nobody who victimizes children (or anyone, for that matter) deserves pity, pedophilia is a psychiatric disorder. How is addressing the issue early on not “help” for the person with the disorder?

Whether or not the OP has responded to you is irrelevant. I just find it odd that you are so determined to place blame on the baker for fulfilling an order as requested in response to someone simply pointing out a factual error. It’s like you just like arguing or something.

Actually, yes. I am self-employed and run my own business - so I know that second-guessing your clients’requests can piss them off as well.

The article above is incorrect in saying that the baker made a mistake. The OP of this thread pointed this out. Both source articles also point out that it was the customer who made the mistake. Does it not make sense to make sure the order you are placing is actually what you want? I don’t really see why it’s
