Who cares? When you subtract the ~20-30% price increase from 87 to diesel this is the same fuel cost as a typical gas truck with 22-20 MPG. If only diesel was the same price as 87, I'd be in.

The 996 is a good bargain, but I feel the 986 Boxster S is an even bigger bargain. 95% of the 996 performance, for 30% less.
