Sander’s own former press secretary came out and said the election wasn’t rigged! Hillary won more states, fair and square. Most of the emails from the leak were from long after the delegate count was not in Bernie’s favor. I voted for him in the primary too because I want a Dem party that is further left. And Bernie…
What? No, we care about the issues. For me in particular:
I'm apologizing in advance, for my laziness and ignorance. But could someone PLEASE point me to the section (or copy and paste, with some context) the damming part? I'm no fan of Wasserman-Shultz but the documents I read were all simply the truth: that many Sander's supporters were vile, misogynist creeps who…
Here’s my first-hand anecdote - my mother kicked up a huge fuss when I was 14 when I went to the doctor to discuss getting better medication for my poorly managed asthma. The usual excuse was that we “seeing the doctor is expensive” - so I managed to save up enough money to pay for the visit myself, and went. The…
Really? Would you say that an 20 year old who has gotten pregnant has demonstrated poor judgement and immaturity? It’s immature if you’re under 18 apparently? I guess a condom breaking is a sign of poor judgement.
Christ. Mistakes happen. Teen pregnancy is actually DOWN in America due to teens being a hell of a lot…
Just because some people are terrible parents shouldn’t diminish my responsibility and authority to ensure that my child is getting appropriate medical care.
So you support parents who are anti abortion forcing their child to carry a pregnancy to term and giving birth? Because that is what you are advocating. You are pro forced birth for teens.
A parent does not own their child’s body. If you have a good relationship with your child and they can trust you to support them, then they will talk to you, if on the other hand, you are abusive, controlling or Sarah Palin, then your teen is protected from your abuse.
You seem to misunderstand minor medical consent laws. It is established in the U.S. that minor children, usually teens but in some states as young as 12, are able to access some medical services without parental consent or notification. These services include STD treatment and sexual health exams such as basic GYN…
In a bad household with bad parents, yup. Those would be your options.
“Parental consent would allow a parent to withhold an abortion.” This is exactly the point; the Supreme Court has ruled that women have a constitutional right to legal abortion, and parents should not be able to deny their daughters this constitutional right.
I like how you refer to it as “evidence.” Not the fact that this teen could possibly have to deal with the very hard responsibility of carrying an incest or rape baby to term and then be responsible for raising it for the rest of their lives. You’re worried that if she doesn’t abort, there won’t be “evidence.”
“Why on earth should that child be entrusted with greater decision making powers?”
We can all point to anecdotes that support our position. More often than not it’s those personal stories and relationships that inform our opinions.
Also, I think most kids who have a good relationship with their parents will tell their parents, and want that support. This law is really to protect those kids who don't have that support and safety.
I’ve heard this law argued about a bit and I always want to say in response to the well-meaninh(?) but misguided comment, “Well I’m for this law because I’d want to know if my daughter was in such a situation and be able to be there for here, even if it was to seek an abortion...” I always want to say, “yeah but you…
I am worried my fiance wouldn’t be able to pay the household bills....without my much higher income.
OMG. I had to rewind and re-play that segment at least 3 times before I could convince myself that he really did say what I thought he said. And when Chris Matthews called him on it, he was like, “What? That’s what my wife says.”
