What I’ve found interesting about the “run government like a business” crowd is they only concentrate on the cost side and never look at ways to increase revenues as well. No business looks just at constant cost cutting.

A strike is supposed to inconvenience people, otherwise what’s the point? It shows their power if they choose to withdraw their labor. Just give people some warning time to prepare for it as much as they can, and do follow-up protests against employers who fire people who attend.
