The Atlantic did a pretty in depth article about this recently (newest issue, I believe), and, yeah, it is a problem that seems to be coming from the radical left more than anywhere else.

False accusations of rape and sexual assault exist at the same percentage/frequency as false accusations of other crimes.
I briefly had a prof that used word counts (which wasn't uncommon). He also deducted .5% for any sentence that didn't have a citation (including intro and conclusion paragraphs), and .5% for any sentence that he felt was unnecessarily wordy (without giving us any idea of what 'unnecessarily wordy' entailed).
Just stoop to get your news from the amateur (and unintentional) comedians on Fox News and Breitbart then?
woah woah woah, did a conservative just admit that Hitler was a right-winger?
stop. the. presses.
I'd say there's more intellectual value to work like Fun Home, Maus, Persepolis, etc. than you'd find in a great deal of traditional prose.
People don't understand the very real danger in reading material about people who aren't exactly like you.
I just finished bingeing on the first 3 volumes of Ms. Marvel, and it made me realize that I'm not actually a 34-year-old white, atheist dude, but actually have been a closeted teenage Pakistani Muslim girl with…
Or if Duke issued a statement acknowledging that they made a mistake putting Fun Home on their recommended reading list, and were going to rectify that oversight immediately - by moving it onto their *required* reading list.
Hopefully 'progressives' rolling their eyes at how ridiculous it is to react like this to something that goes against 'conservative' beliefs realize that it's no different than the countless times student groups over-react to something that goes against their 'progressive' beliefs.
He's on the cutting edge of non-apologies!
I grew up on WWF, got back into watching wrestling when I was in high school and it blew up again in the late 90's…. and have completely lost interest since. One thing I've always believed though, is that 'fake' or not, wrestlers put their bodies through hell to entertain their fans, and deserve respect for that alone.
Now I want to see a wrestling league run by Christopher Guest.
Oh, shit, I guess I didn't make it clear. I was saying that if someone who definitely *isn't* a lead creative does some horrible shit, nobody calls for the projects they're involved with to be brushed under the rug, or wants to debate whether those projects should be re-examined.
But if something should be brushed…
Yeah, for me it's a combination of how heinous their crimes are, if they're repentant, and if it's a matter of disgusting values, whether or not they decide to use their art as a platform for their values. I mean, if an author writes beautiful prose, but uses that prose to espouse an ideology of "non-white people are…
I'd say it's the same as film, television, or novels. They have artistic value and merit in individual aspects (art direction, music, writing), and some games come *close* to approximating art (Noby Noby Boy, Hohokum)… but are they 'art'? not really.
Haven't seen the movie yet, but don't most biopics tend to either present their subject through incredibly rose colored glasses, or focus on the negative if they're trying to knock the subject off their pedestal? I don't think I've seen too many even-handed biopics.
When I hear the "If women ran the world…" argument my go to snark is:
"Well, I assume it would pretty much the same as it is now. I mean, men and women being equally capable includes their capability to be flaming douchelords, and you sort of need to be a narcissistic sociopath to climb to the top rung of the corporate…
Yep. When there's work, it's an avalanche -it hasn't been uncommon for me to need to put in 50-60 hours over 3 days to meet a tight deadline, and I've done 10 weeks straight of 13-16 hour days, 7 days a week. When there isn't work? It's not so much 'yay! vacation time!' (okay, maybe it *is* that for the first few…
Ahhhh, client speak and client demands, one of the joys of graphic design.
I once had a client demand that I make a black and white ad (going in a black & white publication) be 'more colorful'.
I tried to explain that the paper it was being printed in was exclusively black and white, and their response was "I know…
Usually I charge clients 200-250$ for a package of social media identity images, unless they're regular clients, or asking for more work on top of that.
If they don't want to pay for the work, then they don't want professional work. If they don't want professional work, they don't need to hire a designer.
