You and a few other people are working really hard to justify this guy’s comments. You can’t. They’re not justifiable.

So your argument is that we shouldn’t judge him by what he actually said, because you suspect that’s not what he meant?
Bullshit.
Also having experience with both, I’m all for not ranking them. Not trusting the people you already know (my known assailant) or never trusting anyone new/unknown/around (my stranger attacker) - it’s kind of a toss-up as to which is worse.
How about actively policing to catch rapists after they rape instead? Or is that just asking too much?
I think it’s a lot more likely he’ll issue a mealy-mouthed non-apology claiming he was misunderstood and then keep right on ensuring that it’s effectively impossible for rape victims in Brooklyn to get any kind of justice.
It’s especially hard to stop it when the police make it clear they have no interest in investigating let alone prosecuting these cases so any potential rapists should feel free to rape with impunity.
Yes, it makes having intimacy and trust in relationships so difficult. Not to mention when someone makes you uncomfortable, you then agonize over whether you are overreacting, you did something that sent the wrong signal, or if you are really in danger. It’s crazy making.
The police will just start excusing rape because it’s the only way poor men can get any sex.
I hate when people try to “rank” which types of rapes are worse or most traumatic. I am only speaking for me, but having unfortunately been the victim of both acquaintance rape and drag-off-the-street stranger rape, the acquaintance rape left far more lasting psychological and emotional scars. It’s the whole thing…
Yes, gracefully. Per her general counsel: “Because we had not uncovered any actionable evidence of hacking or outside attempts to alter the voting technology, we had not planned to exercise this option ourselves, but now that a recount has been initiated in Wisconsin, we intend to participate in order to ensure…
“Ultimately, police are the largest obstacle to the prosecution and conviction of rapists in the United States,” Kansas University law professor Corey Rayburn Yung wrote in a 2016 analysis “Rape Law Gatekeeping.”
Some of them were Tinder, some of them were hookup sites, some of theme were actually coworkers. It’s not a trend that we’re too worried about because out of 13 [sex attacks], only two were true stranger rapes.
And you thought a woman could be president when most men carry this exact attitude. You thought things could be different, but you ignored the jaded feminists and now we have 8 years of agony ahead of us. No health insurance, no abortions, no minimum wage, no rape kits, no rape investigations. It’s open season on…
“If there’s a true stranger rape, a random guy picks up a stranger off the street, those are the troubling ones. That person has, like, no moral standards.”
Wow. A lot of people did not read the article.
I want to have her over to my house and feed and hug her. I worry.
I, for one, don’t want her to go away. She’s an incredibly smart and capable woman with a lifetime of public service who should be leading some sort of fight against the rise of hate and fear 💩’s election has spawned. What that role is I have no clue, but I’d gladly support her.
There’s shitty governments and then there’s this. I’m doing all the things. Volunteering, boosting the signals, talking to people, giving money to causes. But every single fucking day there’s new doom and gloom to worry about. I can work for change and still be scared shitless.
Right. And let’s be real, the Democrats are shit at getting a message out. I wish to G-d we weren’t but we do not excel at it the way the GOP excels at getting their message of hate and fear out there.
