Mr. Plow is a loser.
And I think he is a boozer.
I would say *especially* not the very first EV version of a truck. The traditional full-size pickup buyer is already going to be probably the hardest sell of any segment in switching to EVs, so it’s in automakers’ interests to, as you’ve said, ease those traditionalists into a new format by making the first few…
I think the N-bodies are actually worse, since they were 1) embarrassingly badge engineered, and 2) ugly pieces of shit no matter what clothes they were wearing. The ‘92-95 Buick Skylark and the Oldsmobile Achieva (god, I could fucking barf just typing that stupid nameplate) were especially egregious examples of a…
Seems like an impending maintenance nightmare, and I don’t think the design has aged well. Paint seems tired and interior is just a step ahead of that (and dated even if it were in pristine shape).
I love it. I have a perhaps weird thing for the panel truck style, and this one is impressively clean with some nice vintage style. I think this would make a terrific base for a camper build with more character than the usual rigs.
Something about 120mph in a Fox body 5.0 on a “let’s skip school” road trip comes to mind. God, we were dumb and lucky not to die.
Looks terrific, sure, but that many miles and that many mods in an already high-output (and thus somewhat high-stress) car seems like a classic BMW maintenance nightmare soon approaching.
Low miles, more than reasonable condition. The 4-cylinder is a bummer, but at least it’s 4WD. Essentially zero options means few things to break. Two-door gives it just a bit of extra panache, and this was one of the last classically styled Jeeps before Wranglers appeared absolutely everywhere and the rest of the…
I’m a huge cartoon fan, especially when we’re talking O.G. Hanna-Barbera material, so I should be in love with this.
Exactly what the “No Dice” button says: just too many miles (and years). It’s impressively clean and well-preserved, and this kind of thing would be a hoot to daily, but comparables in mileage (if not quite in as pristine condition) seem to be going for like 40% of this asking...a few seconds of Googling reveals…
2018 Chevrolet Silverado. I’m an RVer with a towable. I have a very short daily commute (less than 10 miles round trip) and needed a new tow vehicle, and I knew I could afford cost of ownership since my mileage when not traveling is very low. I bought in the fall of ‘18 when there were but a few 2018s left on the lot…
I loved this design when new, and I think it’s aged well. This one looks good, but seems to be less desirable on account of the 2 missing cylinders (and the high miles on the 6 that are there). Seems that there are some significant upkeep costs on the horizon for a car that isn’t going to set anyone’s pulse pounding…
It looks like a boxier first-gen Kia Sportage, and in terms of build, it’s Frankensteined from top to bottom. Seems like a nightmare to maintain. Plus it’s $10k.

Oh yeah, for sure it’s style over substance for the most part. That’s what I was driving at with my comment that these cars are compromises between comfort and performance, though perhaps it didn’t come through as clearly as intended.
I had/have a thing for these. They have the same kind of old man style as Mike from Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul...been around for a while, but will still break you in half. I love the slightly angry stealthified vibe overlaid on your grandparents’ hoopty. This one also seems to be in quite good condition.
Rhiannon Giddens is certainly worth a listen, both for her views and her excellent music.
Surplus is just so...extra.
I mean, clearly the answer is Plymouth Prowler. They told us themselves: the first production hot rod ever made.
