I mean most kids running around neighborhoods using the word don’t even know what gay or straight is. Its just a word. Anyone using it in a derogatory way is an asshole, but that’s really all there is to it. I rarely say it, but its just a word.

I just don’t think words alone can do harm. Sure I guess it could trigger someone who is already hateful to be more hateful, or make someone who is already homophobic use it towards a gay person, but I don’t think a word itself should be censored completely. It’s already a word, and evil ppl are gonna use it wrongly…

okay yeah when I say nobody, I was generalizing big time. But in the context I am talking about, (people joking with each other) its not used that way. Intent and context are what give words value. It’s ridiculous that there could be a couple words that shall not be said by anyone no matter what. Its crazy.

the thing is nobody uses it or gay to actually mean homosexual anymore. You could literally say, “I was cuddling with my girlfriend” and that’s gay would be a common response. Yeah its dumb, but its not homophobic.

all of this may be very true, but if your comfortable with yourself and friends this shouldn’t be a problem
