If something disintegrated in one of the gearboxes it would have cause significant friction and made autorotation difficult. Autorotation also usually requires a bit more altitude to be done properly.

Actually, I would argue that slacksonslacks is not even a marathoner. Anyone who has ever run a 3:45 marathon, whether it be a PR or on the way to a much faster time, knows that you have to work your ass off to get to that point.
