Drives me nuts, too. Warren (and Castro) would bust her ass to fix what's wrong with America or die trying. And we'll get either Pete smooching pharma ass or Joe making all the interns uncomfortable. And God help me, I will vote for whoever is on the general ballot...because I'm not an asshole.

Me: Warren/Castro 2020!

A Warren/Castro ticket would be such a fucking dream. I’ve met Warren a couple of times in informal situations (once on a train, once at a bar) and I’m more than impressed by her, she’s great.

Obviously the candidates can’t do this, but I think their supporters really need to start mentioning the sheer unimportance of the Iowa Caucuses and commit to its results not changing their minds when it comes to voting in their own primaries. It’s only trusted as a barometer because we treat it as a barometer.

Wait until the Southern Primaries decide the race for Joe Biden. As that is the likely scenario right now. Warren’s problem (as it Buttigeig and Sanders) is they cant get a huge slice of the Democratic electorate to look at them as viable.

She’s going to need a strong January. I still feel like she’s probably the second most “electable” of the candidates, but she really needed Sanders to cooperate. And he is not cooperating.

Having two overwhelmingly white, rural states dictate the pace of every single presidential election is getting tired.

Whelp, Pete, I never trusted you. I always felt that you are a closet racist. And now here we are the Rhodes Scholar can’t read, can’t see, and doesn’t listen to black folks. Hmmmm, sounds like some others on the ticket as well. People lets judge these folks by what they do. Damn what they say cause they are lying

Mayor Pete is a classic example of a white Democrat that only sees value in minorities as a vehicle to carry him to an election win.

Notice how the troll tries to change the topic to whatever distractive BS they read on Fox News?

Thanks for posting this article.

Fellow Gen-Xer here. Nobody I knew ever gave a shit about her or her book. Yes, we heard her name and heard plenty of discussion about her book in mainstream media, but none of my clique ever bothered to read it.

And let’s be honest with ourselves here - all the best late in life memoirs come from the batshit crazy

I always say you have to balance living like there’s no tomorrow....with not being a dumbass, since statistically and anecdotally, there has always been a tomorrow for me so far.

I know people mean well when they say this kind of thing but as someone that still can’t get out of bed today it just makes me feel worse.

became a kind of bible for Gen-Xers

She was a vain and probably selfish person, but I don’t think that puts her in a league with J.D. Salinger or Ted Hughes, let alone Norman Mailer. The reaction to her “sins” has always been incredibly gendered.

She will be missed, she was such an out and proud voice for mental illness. Refusing to be defined by her diagnosis. And I think that carried through to her cancer.

On top of my sympathy for her and her circle of loved ones, I’m sad we will be denied an even more curmudgeonly, scabrous 95-year-old Wurtzel pissing us off from the comfort of a rest home.

Can’t decide if she’d love or hate me wishing that her memory be a blessing. I wrote a Books column in an alternative weekly about 25 years ago and even though my editor called me “a hairy-legged feminist,” I really enjoyed Wurtzel’s writing and considered a true form of feminism, an opinion with which I know many

I adored her, she put into simple words what my heart and mind had always found so indescribable. My heart goes out to her family and friends.
