If Abraham Lincoln were still alive today, he’d have just celebrated his 209th birthday. So he’d be driving a Buick like everyone else his age.

As the owner of a 95 Thunderbird LX with the 4.6 2v I concur.
In all seriousness.....I want one of these as a cruiser. Am I crazy? I’m crazy I think.
Order of dominance:
How does all of this play into dry weight v.s. curb weight etc?
$30,000 USD?
Its actually not that simple. Full disclosure. I’m 28, and now own my 3rd harley davidson. Evo Sportster>Big Twin Evo FXR (the “best” bike harley ever made>Currently: 1948 Rigid Panhead Chopper.
I think if they made smaller, cheaper, better bikes they could survive. Little cafe racers, 250's, etc. Emphasis on inexpensive, lightweight, easy to zip around the city.
Seriously. For $20,000 I could have two excellent Japanese bikes, or a nearly new F150, or breast implants (followed by reductions to maintain my manly physique). If in one breath you’re asking the question, why won’t millenials etc and the next breath stating the bike is 20 grand and all about The Brand, it’s high…
The price is the big thing to me. They’re priced higher than Ducati. Up there with Aprilia or the really high end BMW’s. Sorry, I’m not going to spend $26,000 (you forgot the custom orange paint with flames that really ups the sale price) for a bike like that. If I had to buy new today, I could buy a top of the line…
This death spiral is a long time coming though. HD has focused on its core brand and image to the detriment of future survival. I ride a Buell, so I have to venture into HD dealers for parts. I also grew up with a father who had a Fat Boy as well as his S2 Thunderbolt and spent many weekends at HOG meetings.
When a vehicle’s design, inside and out, is authentic to its mission statement and purpose, that’s beautiful. When it’s form says “this is what I am, this is what I do,” I’m impressed. So very often, cars try to be more than they are, or more than they should be, and their overwrought design language betrays that…
I just realized how to have some fun.
I know the feeling. ‘93 MR2 here. Mine is pretty much complete, but I could use some upgraded parts and little interior touches, but these are never found in pick ‘n pulls, so I have to go (expensive) OEM or aftermarket. Still, if there’s an X1/9 (my first car btw), I’ll find an MR2 some day.
There were about 30 of them in the yard, but they’re so common there these days that I didn’t bother snapping pictures of them.
Its just too “tounge-in-cheek” for me. But each his own...
