The guy who built these and owns that car is Scott Petty, a semi-professional drifter from Ohio. He was one of the first guys to help me out and take me under his wing when I first got into the 240SX. Awesome guy and a freaking genius!
How’s my COVID Project? Well I’m happy to confirm that the “Ripoff from Hell 240SX” featured here (www.tinyurl.com/UmojaJalop) is still up to its normal tricks. You know, the usual old Nissan issues of multiple transmission failures, engine issues, and an ALMOST complete rebuild before COVID hit and the wife turned…
They are beautiful to look at but as someone on the younger side, I was seriously surprised how raw and mechanical the whole bike sounded running.
Swing through PA and visit the famous “Ripoff From Hell” 240SX Convertible that is, surprise!, broken again!
I used to work at one of the Major chain auto parts stores. They never taught us this. Now I feel like a wasteful ass for going with the aerodynamic beam types on my cars. My wife’s a hippy and would LOVE to cut down on waste this way.
Ford did this with the focus. Gave away pre-production examples to tuner shops for $1 in return for a contract to have X Yand Z parts on offer the day the Focus went on sale to the public.
Repeat after me:
Can I boost my own? I run @the.car.dad on Instagram. It covers the 240SX from Hell Stef wrote about 2 years ago as well as stuff I spot in the wild. It’s small but growing.
I actually want to add paddle shifters or make my own slap shift for my 240SX convertible. I would much rather have the engagement of a manual since it’s so slow but my wife is handicapped and manuals are physically painful for her so I’m not going to manual swap it. Paddles or a slap shift would be a great median.
HOLY HELL!! They got the slapshift right!!
This car was such a horrible let down for me. I think it looks incredible with the rear wing and factory body kit. But its a FWD chassis. Had it been AWD or better yet RWD it would have felt more “Complete” to me. By the time I was in the market for one, a Mustang and a 240SX had converted me to a RWD/AWD fanboy......
This would seem a good guess. Look at the firewall shapes. Both have a depressed section for the engine and some large rectangular bracing. The tilted backward spare tire and rear windscreen also seem like matches.
The shock recalls?
