Did anyone catch her in that clip trying to say,WELL ACTUALLY Harvard got in trouble for letting TOO many Asians in”?? Like she was trying to point out that overall rich white kids really are being discriminated against but then tried to play it off like she meant to say “not enough” instead of “too many” when the

God, I work for a private university. I get lots of cool toys to play with and my kid can go there for free (if  they get accepted), but god I wish I was back in the municipal government again.

Its hard for me to humblebrag.  I’m just not that good with words. I guess I’m just naturally gifted.

Wait - she is John McCain’s daughter? I feel like maybe she should mention that every once in a while.

Wherein two Latinas and an Italian-American woman who was the daughter of a seamstress and Coca Cola truck driver have to listen to why systems that keep the privileged white upper class in power are fine from the daughter of a U.S. senator and a beer heiress.

Rich people: “Everything should be earned on merit! But legacy admissions are different because that impacts my family.”

That was a fun read, thanks!

That’s true. She uses his name Every.Damn.Day. whereas the other panelists at that table all have their own accomplishments to draw on. (Including Abby Huntsman, who never discusses her father the two term governor and bipartisan Ambassador)

And her father - did you know her father was John McCain? - famously got into the Naval Academy as a legacy admit and finished at the bottom of his class. He was, by the way, Senator John McCain. And she’s his daughter.

Oh god. I’m not even sure what her point was. Sometimes legacy admissions aren’t so bad, especially when you think about my family? Like, wtf? Also, she’s the living embodiment of white privilege and nepotism. She has no sense of self-awareness and can’t understand there are times when she should really just be quiet.

If not for her father, Meghan McCain would be the third-best account executive at Tucson’s 6th best PR agency.

If only we could institute a 100% estate tax, these rich people could use those bootstraps that they seem to feel are so important.

I’m glad Megs is brave enough to speak up for the unsung heroes of the elite establishment. No one ever advocates for the rich and powerful!

Never thought I would be sograteful for the kind of public education that these kids don’t want. It’s a great way to avoid having to go to school with these types of people. I had a lot of educational privilege growing up, but my parents used it to help me get a math tutor made me do extra homework and study. It's

This was the most Meghany Meghan yet. The topic had nothing to do with her family and she went right to how EVERYTHING is about her family - because her family has benefitted from legacy admissions for generations, and rather than just not mentioning it, she brazenly defended it.

Absolutely. Let’s not pretend that the university system isn’t a kind of meta-fraternity, that for years has given continued preference to those who previously had access, thanks largely to power and privilege. There is a huge machine within these schools that works these family connections for donations and other

The trial didn’t have anything to do with it. He was absolutely guilty, showed no remorse and didn’t seem to care at all what happened to him.
I’m a lot older and hopefully wiser now and it’s come down to the conclusion that if we are ever going to be a just society who condemns murder, we shouldn’t participate in the

Been too many folks exonerated and released from death row for us to keep it as an option in our justice system. We’ve likely already killed some innocent folks. If we for certain did, I can’t remember off the top of my head but it’s likely.
