So basically, what you’re saying is that my mother also has dementia? Damn, Muck. That’s not an easy way to find out.

I don’t think it’s racism exactly. I mean he gets along with the Philippine’s Duterte. I think he just hates anyone who doesn’t flatter him personally. The day Kim Jong Un compliments 45 on his “hair” is the day 45 changes his tune.

Speaking of gnats... To paraphrase Julius Lester, if his brain was magnified a 1000 times, it would fit into the navel of a gnat and rattle around like a BB in a cornflakes box.

So much effort and evilness involved in suppressing brown people’s right to vote! I wonder if it’s ever occurred to them that it might be easier to just make Republican policies less toxic towards the non-white.

This particular hot take is more insightful than 99% of the Trump County profiles I’ve read.

Many current internet commenters are barely literate assholes with no grasp of history or the wider world. Perhaps their lot and that of their descendants could also be improved by enslaving them and sending them to toil on another continent. Hmmm?

And it’s not even the use of the word “nerd” that makes this scene anachronistic as much as the conceit that guys like that in the mid 50s would have been viewed the same way as record nerds are (in popular portrayals) today. In the mid-50s, I’d imagine that guys like that would have been viewed as beatniks. Maybe

Yes, describing a club as being “off-the-grid” seemed egregiously anachronistic to me. That expression wouldn’t have been used until the 90s or so.

Bono was okay once upon a time, but to paraphrase Shirley Bassey, he hasn’t got the rage.

“That was mixed with all the work that was still about to be undone...”

Also, I would just like to say regarding this tweet:

Thank you! A year and a half later, someone confirms my childhood memory, and now I have everything I wanted for Xmas.

Fair enough, but can we please keep “dotard”? [I mean on the grounds that it wasn’t formed from X + tard.]

Definitely not the same guy who thumb-typed, “I wish we would have gotten the seat.”

Agree with #2. As to #1, I think she was pretty rock and roll. If Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel, Al Green, and The Staple Singers get to be in there, so does she.

John Coltrane? That seems to me stretching the definition of rock and roll well past the breaking point. (I don’t disagree with Miles Davis’ inclusion, though.)

Feel safe in the assumption that he’s as untruthful about his birthdate as he is about everything else.

“Trump, 71, was born on June 14, 1946, but his ballot application lists his birthday as July.”

Well, that’s a fair point. But it’s not what you were arguing upstream. Still, I’d argue that the popular vote outcome is the closest you’ll get to gauging the will of the people in the current electoral system. I agree though that you could gauge in better in a direct vote system.

Oh man, that’s like a 10 minute walk from my house. Can I be a duke or an earl or something? (And BTW lest you believe I’m already royalty or as wealthy as one, I paid about 1/5 that amount for my house.)
