So, I think my only response to your argument so far is that you’re making an assertion without backing it up. Who? Who are the cronys and whose coffers are getting full? Without this information, all I’ve got is another person crying foul on ‘them’ without actually showing that a ‘them’ even exists. Who are these

“So, the moment is completely undercut because Anakin and the Jedi are the only people who haven’t figured this out.”

Excellent! Help to quarantine the cancer;-)

In a way, I regret that I’m not five years old again. There will never be another first time like that.

I hope so too. I worry because of how much product placement I’m seeing for Ep VII, but... I hope so too. Having never followed the EU and basically staying away from the new CG cartoons and all the excess tie-in crap, I hope that it reaches me. I really want to be amazed.

Sorry to pose the spoiler quandary; I’m still deciding if I want to check out this anime. Please note that I’m professionally trained to push on ideas until they break and that I mean nothing personal by it.

I find it intriguing that this work is so deliberately halfway in its vision. They perfectly manipulate the body, but impose an artificial barrier where mind and identity is somehow separate from the brain and therefore not subject to the same capacity for manipulation as the rest of the body. They have nanomachines

It felt like the ultimate betrayal to me. Star Wars was something I lived and breathed, and then I read KJA and it broke me from consuming everything Star Wars.

I don’t understand that either.

I agree, my head would probably explode too. In the fanfic writing community, there are certain authors that recognize how fanfic tends to produce extended universes and discourage people posting fanfics on the big fanfic sites of their particular works. The EU was very good for keeping Star Wars alive while there

All that shows is how ridiculous and desperate ‘fandom’ is. ‘Official canon’ is a BS concept that allows a mechanical marketing machine to feed crap to people who are unreasonably obsessed about something and make more money off of it. And, particularly since the people who ‘hold the official canon’ clearly never had

I’m wondering what he wrote skillfully way back when in order to get the chance to screw up so badly. Is he related to Tom Doherty or something?

I agree. I loved Zahn’s triology. I stopped reading EU books when I realized that the extended universe was going to so hit-or-miss. It was also the first time that I realized that movie tie-in books were written by the worst sort of glorified fanfic writer. Why pay money for that?? I have never read a Kevin J.

This is more of an indictment of Kevin J. Anderson than of Star Wars or Luke Skywalker. This series was the last time I ever read a Star Wars book and the last heed I ever paid to the Star Wars extended universe, which I realized was going to be created by people like Kevin J. Anderson.
