I’d wager part of it has to do with daily-drivability advantages for dumb drivers that don’t care to either improve their driving skills/knowledge and/or invest in snow tires.

Why is it so bad that dealers are auctioning, but people that flip the cars aren’t getting dragged the same way? I’m no fan of dealers here, but if people are willing to pay, and going to pay, that’s just capitalism.
