I cried when it happened. It was a bit of overkill (just a tad) but they still killed him and that made me sad.

Ehhh. That fits with the greater Star Wars continuity zone of suspended disbelief. Time and space are highly malleable concepts in the Star Wars universe. Things tend to appear where they need to be, when they need to be there, regardless of the distances or timescales involved.
