I just discovered Gravity Falls a month ago. Almost through Season 1. It had me hooked from the end of the first episode with the gnome rainbow-puking over the entire end credits. And then that second episode:

Yup. Same issue with Jon Carter of Mars (Princess of Mars in books). As groundbreaking as the original stories were, by the 21st Century they had been copied and coopted so many times that the plot looked tired and hackneyed.

Actually, that structure is exactly what a TV show is. I could see that type of story working out well.

His power set is so overhyped that it makes him a deux ex machina . He’s the ultimate wireless network, has the Internet in his head, a Mother Box (boom tube generator) in his chest, and can morph his body into just about anything he can imagine. He is literally a giant tool (no pun intended). I love him as a Titan…

Major prime characters should only be tweaked. Barry Allen as a brunette with brown eyes when he’s supposed to be blonde with blue eyes? OK, but ya still white and always will be. Archie as a redhead? I don’t see how you can do anything else.

The reason for the cancelation goes beyond ratings.

Ya, I agree. Star Trek VI had Praxis explode, rendering the surface of Q’onos uninhabitable for 50 years. I would assume that would have obliterated the Klingon economy, sparked civil war, and generally destroyed the Empire we had come to know - yet that didn’t affect anything we knew to exist in the time line.

Casablanca is worth another shot, it really is a great film. Citizen Cane is boring BUT it was a landmark film for its time in its directing and visualizations. Same with Gone With The Wind, which is about 90 minutes too long.

Now where have I seen that before? Oh yeah!

lol right. I roll my eyes every time Firestorm shows up but I go along with it because otherwise he’d be a deus ex machina every episode. I’d rather watch a half-assed story than actually goes somewhere than a cut to the quick plot that doesn’t tell an actual story.
