Because no matter how clean and perfectly uniform it is... if you drape foil across a large area, it will wrinkle a bit. Ever hang a rectangular tarp (i.e. one without catenary cuts)? You’ll see similar wrinkles.

Not so many die to the point the population growth is sensible. They don’t have a lot of babies as a part of some master plan... high birth rate and low education level go hand in hand. If we want to help, we need to spend more on education... less on propping them up from day to day.
