I guess it could have been a reasonable question if it were framed as “Do you think that the floods have distracted the Rockets and affected their performance, thus contributing to your wins?”

Chinese business English is not American anything English. Even if the guy was having trouble getting his question out, the firing was not likely about his question but about the response.
