Chief Osceola is not a mascot. Never has been; never will be, and it’s wrong for media to treat him like one. He doesn’t act like a mascot fool. He’s a honored symbol of the Florida Seminole Tribe, which they wholeheartedly approve of. In fact, they design his outfit.

It’s not the colors, a few years ago some dudes covered their bodies in tempera paint and glitter and called themselves the “Garnet and Gold Guys”.
