Yes, I thought the cinematography in Birdman was essential and really put you inside the movie, both within the theater & as he moved through the city. I have also spent time in the back of theaters, and with self-absorbed theater people, so the whole thing worked for me. I can see why some people cringe at the

Yeah, it is on my list of "films not to rewatch if you are feeling depressed." This list is one notch above "films not to ever rewatch, because if you weren't depressed before you sure as hell will be after watching this."

My impression was that it was essentially two hours of a-holes being a-holes to one another. And none of the a-holes were charming or clever or even particularly outlandish a-holes. They were just boring, dull a-holes. Honestly, I cannot recall a single chuckle outside of one moment at the end.

I saw it & did not realize until reading this article it was shot on an iPhone. The look was obviously shaky & gritty, but it didn't seem so much different than a lot of indies shot with handheld cameras.

I think Tilda Swinton could definitely star in a David Bowie biopic

I think this is pretty simple, really: Avatar is a movie that is fantastic in its intended format: IMAX 3-D, but really pretty boring if you watch it on a TV screen. Once it was out of the theaters, it had nothing to stand on. No kid remembers the movie like, "man that one blue guy was super cool! I want to be like

Which one had the three-bladed sword, where the blades could shoot out of it and stab people from a distance?

I think, if you buy tickets through a Fandango account, that you can exchange them for credit (although I've never done it myself, so I don't know what restrictions there would be).

I really wish AV Club would include some information on release schedules when they review these limited-release events. Vile temptresses get me all worked up to see a film, then I have to stumble around on the internet for an hour to find a location.

The other thing about Gibson's Hamlet was the way he played up the sexual tension between Hamlet & his mother Gertrude, helped along by his being too old for the part (and Close being too young to be his mother). It certainly added a strange element to the proceedings

That's not from air resistance. That's how BB units indicate sexual arousal.

I'm rec'ing this, and any comment I see from you, purely for your screen name. One of my goals in life is to make enough money to buy I minor league sports team, move it to South Dakota, and name them the Yankton Cocksuckers.

I'm not sure it is "cheating", but it would be helpful to have context - compared to that 63 seconds, how much dialogue was there for male characters?

Yeah, but Remar was the best part of two formative films of my youth, The Warriors and 48 Hrs, and Rhys-Davies saved Indy's life from that bad date. That goes a long way.

Oh, and the vain Narcissa Malfoy, and the constantly offended Dolores Umbridge. The names are just a treasure trove of puns.

Fenrir Greyback, for one (Fenrir being an obvious nod to the Fenris Wolf of Norse mythology). Also, Draco Malfoy (essentially "bad dragon"), the snake-like Salazar Slytherin, The perpetually hung-over Rubeus Hagrid (this one I know Rowling has specifically mentioned), the weird Bellatrix LeStrange, and the crazy Luna

So I'm reading this sure I'm never going to watch the show and then I read "John Rhys-Davies" followed closely by "James Remar". Now I kinda want to check it out, a little bit.

They desperately need to make a video game version of that Batman. The Arkham games are great and all, but who wouldn't love to run around a colorful Gotham and have "POW" & "BIFF" light up the screen when you punch someone. The bomb disposal scene from the movie would be awesome in video game form

No thank you. I doubt even Cosby could do it after slipping them each three roofies.

The trouble is that if Cosby were a person of more modest means, he would likely have received a bond that would have ensured he stayed in prison throughout his trial. For Cosby, $1 million has no effect on his decision to appear. If he was certain he would be convicted, he could Polanski off to some country with no
