Now that they are using Unreal which has incredible technical support and is widely known instead of some janky in house engine I doubt the wait will be even half as long as the original.

This happened to me once in a BS way. I shuffled all my tasks to other people and did the bare minimum that was required of me.
Contract positions are the most perilous in the industry. I’d never accept a contract job anymore. Only people new to the industry take those sorts of jobs.
