Agreed! This is a great addition. I don’t play Mario Kart to win, I play it to have fun. Sometimes I win, and that’s great, but it’s always the driving and tricky item usage that brings me back.

Same thing happened previous generation. Sony was totally open to having cross platform play THEN, but Microsoft wanted nothing to do with it. Now that the roles have reversed Sony doesn’t feel the need to live up to the things they said now that they are at the top. Big surprise!

I find it funny that you think folk’s gaming plans would be any different than normal. I work full time and have a life outside. I game when I can, which isn’t half as much as I’d like. I’m lucky enough to have a girlfriend that games too, but it’s not like that creates more hours on the day.
