Thanks for all the work you did reviewing and honoring this important series, Oliver. I’ve enjoyed talking about it with the other commenters here, using your impressions and thoughts as a jumping off point. You did work worthy of a show like this, and it was always clear how important the show was to you, even beyond

“Spirit in the Dark” is one of her quintessential moments in song, and it’s my answer. But today while driving around, listening to The Current’s solid two hour block of her music, I heard her version of “Joy to the World” (the Christmas song, not the Three Dog Night hit). It’s just amazing, so go find that one.

Awwwww....

Buggalos: juggalos who only crave the ICP cover of “Video Killed the Radio Star”
Puggalos: flat-faced juggalos
Shruggalos: Randian juggalos

Juggal-urries.

Joseys Lawrence, with Richard Vranch at the piano.

Don’t forget folks who giggle. Those bastards.

I can’t even get past the wince that Pissed Jeans inspires. No WAY I’m ever going to knowingly listen to Diarrhea Planet.

They’re trying to up the white audience by having the show name appeal to Ikea shoppers.

While I understand and agree that—initially—Ruby’s revelation of not being a good solo-stone was cop-out-ish...I don’t think Eric makes enough of the reasons Ruby is exploring her independence here. THIS is Ruby’s side of the Pink Diamond revelation. While Sapphire feels cheated because Garnet feels like it’s based on

Well...whatever the Gem version of “fucking” is. Fusing seems like the closest analogue, but we only know what Steven is told in terms of Gem intimacy. Maybe they do have lots of geological sex between episodes.

Okay, so I’ll just start by saying that there were some moments when Pearl was...displaying...her emotional fondness for Pink Diamond that felt downright erotic to me. The way DMH acted her automatic subservient responses got more and more packed with honest faith and hopeful intensity. It was an undeniable

Keith Reid was considered a member of Procol Harum, even though all he did was write lyrics and look awkward in band photos.

My favorite bits were the pescatarian barbecue with Alice Cooper’s extended family, and the moment when Billy sees his keepers have dropped the leash...and only then does it occur to him that the bit attached to his neck-loop is removable.

Because they tore down the sun! Did you even listen to the lyrics?

Now I got Worry was the first JSBX album I listened to. I got it in a mass-purchase of CDs from groups I knew I should listen to, but hadn’t yet. I slapped it into my player and got my headphones on, thinking to myself, “let’s see what this band is all about.” Then came that glorious, ear-shattering scream.

Nobody asked, but:

Monocles are the reason former pirates were able to blend in with society in their late, post-eyepatch days.

Right there with you, Mechanics. Mass Romantic was so special and different to my ears. Still is. Nothing they’ve done touches it, but they all get close.
