Yeah, it's that extra bolt-on stuff that was my concern. I've already got a CAI from the last owner, but I'd have to buy a new exhaust. Thanks, though. It's nice to hear from someone who has done it before.

Actually, out of personal interest (I've got a MKIV GTI I've been looking to speed up), would you say stage two is worth the premium over stage one?

They do have different fuel grade options, but the lowest offered is 91.

Yeah, that looks about right. Weird for a turbo'd engine to do that.

I've been lusting after an old Mini for quite a while, and this isn't helping in the slightest.

This isn't "How to drive stick for beginners," it's part of Alex Lloyd's segment here called "How To Drive Fast." He's also covered proper racing lines and throttle/steering in the past weeks. It's for how to drive fast on the track, not how to drive on the road. It's really good stuff, you should read it.

Migrating north for the summer.

That takes all the fun out of it.

Except the question is worst car *still for sale*

This isn't about cheapest, though. It's about getting good gas mileage while being fun to drive.

Weird. I can't speak for the Benz, my friend's family (who I'm very close with) owns both a Golf TDI and Passat TDI, and the only problems they've had have been people borrowing the cars and putting normal gas in the tank. Although, the least reliable car I know of is my friend's Toyota Corolla, so maybe I come from

Bimmers != all German cars. That would be like saying Fords are going to be crappy because you had a bad experience with a Dodge.

Cool. The map views certainly look good, but it's nice to hear from someone who has been there. Like I said, it's about 20 minutes from here, so I really have no excuse not to go.

I've never had any reliability issues with either of the Volkswagens I've owned (Note: Not a fanboy, that's just how it's worked out for me). In fact, the only times I ever found myself without a car is when my mom's Equinox broke down. Or ran into something.

Unrelated, I live about 20 minutes from Grattan, yet I've never been there (or to any track day, for that matter). How is it? I've been curious ever since I found out about it.

I had to google that and now I wish I hadn't.

Can't speak for the convertible, but the New Beetle itself isn't a bad car, just kinda goofy.

Solely directed at your last point, I don't think the issue here is how long it takes to put the top up, but that you can't take the top with you. You either have the top, or you don't. You make one decision and are stuck with it.

I actually like this car, until I realize I wouldn't get to drive it if I wanted to enjoy the open air. It's no drivers car, but it appeals to the same part of me that like tuxedos and the Bugatti Royale.
