I just did an image search and you can’t find any that are under normal lighting to get a feel for what the color really looks like. It’s either under overcast skies and slightly under exposed photography or it’s these promo shots all surrounded by red lighting. I want to see one pic taken in sunlight.

Mazda is guilty of that. They brag about Machine Gray and Polymetal Grey. Hold me back! I happen to own a Polymetal Grey Mazda. It was the least worst choice of Mazda’s fairly grim limited color selection. I do love the car however.

Sadly that motor was so detuned in the production version. I drove a Cosworth back then and was surprised at how little power it actually had.

The V-8 was quite an odd duck, name another V8 that had a 60° bank angle. And as I recall it had special balance shafts to counter the vibrations of a 60° V8???

The only thing this guy dressed up for was to display his utter ignorance.

Just look at statistics, yeah you could get involved in a serious collision, but in reality what are the odds? Maybe I’m a bit fatalistic but I just don’t think the likelihood of a serious collision is statistically very high at all. If someone have some deep-seated insecurities and paranoia then they need to drive a

My ‘16 Prius stops and starts imperceptibly at speeds all way up to 73 miles an hour. 😁

Hey thanks for posting that, I was wondering what’s the status of the new Air Force One livery was. I’m just surprised there wasn’t more gold involved.

I hereby nominate I-70 Vail pass Colorado. It is always cratered, steepest east bound sections are the worst . They repave it every two years but when you load up trucks with chains and they then go spinning and clawing their way up the steep snowy grades they rip the road up. Throw in gobs of magnesium chloride and s

I drove a 2020 RAV4 with the auto high beam control and they were essentially worthless, I had to continually intervene to avoid blasting oncoming drivers with my high beams. The adaptive system on my ‘21 Mazda Miata isn’t perfect but it’s far better. I very rarely have to intervene and shut down my brights.

I had a dealer not do the dealer prep on a 2016 Toyota with projector headlights. (it also came with tires at 55 psi , and the shipping tie down hole plugs loose in the glove box) Toyota apparently expects the dealer to do that. I had people flashing me all over the place and that’s when I realized the low beam and

You lead me to another observation I made over the decades. Back in the day it was damn obvious when somebody had their highbeams on it was pretty much black and white. These days with a mix of countless different kinds of lights and heights and styles you really can’t tell if somebody’s got high beams are not. I

Wow and I thought I was the only one that did that.

If I had my way DRL would be banished. I remember what driving was like back in the day without everybody blinding each other with their headlights, and I have had the good fortune of visiting some countries where people still drive with their lights off. There is far more visual information available when you’re not

I have been in enough different vehicles to also know that if you happen to be in fog or in my case heavy snow, if your headlight is low it’s not going to light up the snow or fog directly in front of your eyes and obscure your view, you are looking down at the beam lighting up the road surface, and the snow falling

Years ago I experimented with applying thin dark tint strips on the left side of my drivers glasses lenses to attenuate DRL’s, and headlights at night. I can still see through the dark tint so I can still see what’s going on behind it. It’s a crazy difficult process to get the strips mounted exactly on the lenses

I think non overrideable auto dimming high beams might be a good idea.

Colorado did that until they instituted annual emission inspections, at which time they hung up the safety inspections. They checked for condition of tires and headlight alignment and some other things that I don’t recall

You are right,  all headlights are brighter when I’m in my Miata compared to when I’m in my SUV.
