Thanks for reinforcing my belief that the spectrum of headlights moving towards blue is part of the problem. I am old enough to remember the good old days of sealed beam headlights by government regulation. Unless alignment, was off every single vehicle had uniform headlight performance. Headlights back then were

There are snow plows here in the Colorado mountains with their amber and blue light bars that are brighter than the sun. It’s ridiculous.

I get the feeling some people just put their high beams on because they’re frustrated with all of the oncoming vehicles and they just decided f**k I’ll just leave my high beams on.

I have to say I visited a friend in Bellingham about a year ago and compared to here in the mountain areas of Colorado the population of small vehicles is huge, and the percentage of pick ups is relatively speaking minuscule.

I got a 2003 Suzuki Vitara four-door and yes it was loud, and trucky, and the five speed manual shift was finicky, it wasn’t very fast, but I bought it for some light off roading and winter driving here in the snowbelt I live in. I really fell in love with it far more than I had expected I would. I'd love a Jimny.

When it comes to aerodynamics, the high ride height clearly is a disadvantage. It inherently increases frontal area. That said I have a Sierra Club friend who’s doing all kinds of lifestyle changes to reduce carbon footprint but, when it comes to vehicles, he will not get something that he hast to lower his late 60s

I had a Suzuki Vitara for 16 years, I live in the snowbelt of Colorado. In RWD drive, yes it was indeed spooky on the slick. When put in 4H four-wheel-drive, it was a stable sure footed little mountain goat. Yeah it was an 03 so no ABS, but the braking system was responsive and could keep up with the most rapid

1958 VW Beetle.  FWIW getting 35 mpg driving from Denver uphill a bit to Boulder was amazing back in the early 70's, however on some of the uphill grades it could barely top 40 mph.

In 2009 I had a dealership replace a clutch when they apparently knew it was the master cylinder I having trouble with. They did not replace the master cylinder. That was 1000 bucks I could’ve used for something else. f***ers. And they didn’t use factory original parts . They used some third-party parts.

On road trips there are no Harleys. There are no campers. There is no summertime tourist traffic. There often is little or no traffic.

OK, mildly off-topic but I’m 5'10" and weigh 155 pounds, brag brag. On a flight to Seattle last spring in the window seat, I spent the entire flight leaning against the window because the lady in the middle seat next to me was so ample that if I were to attempt to put my elbow on the armrest, I would’ve been at least

I have toyed with getting “Eunos” badges for my MX5 just to confuse people even more. “Fairlady Z” badging for the Nissan Z would be fun too.

Like you, my mind jumped to the conclusion that this thing was fully submerged at normal river levels, but I went back to the headline after reading the article, and it says “exposes” rather than “reveals”.

I remember those, they were $25,000 which according to an inflation adjuster website, that translates to $56,000. The MR2 was not cheap. In comparison, my 1990 Plymouth laser (Mitsu Eclipse) turbo was $13,000 at the time, $29,521 current dollars.

The Suzuki Samurai, now the Jimny, I think it might sell.

I just have to say if you look into Toyotas hybrid system, you will see that the automatic transmission has got to be mechanically dirt cheap to manufacture. It’s a planetary gear set (6 whole gears in three sets)

When I was in Europe, in the late 80s, I was jealous of all the sleek hatchback versions of European and Japanese sedans sold here in the USA, because US buyers for some reason hate “hatchbacks”

I don’t remember which country, and it’s been probably at least 10 years, but some European country calibrates the traffic fines according to one’s income and wealth. The story was about a man who was fined a few thousand dollars for a traffic ticket because he was wealthy and had a high income. Communist/socialist/Ma

I will be sad when it dives into the planet to its destruction. A deceased friend of mine has his name engraved on an electronics cover panel on that craft. His team engineered the (as I recall) the UV spectrometer on it.

Averaging 62mph over 10,000 miles in my ‘16 Prius. bring on higher fuel prices, HA!
