I’m guessing that for all six of these children to be in agreement to change their first names like that, not just their middle and surnames, they probably associate their original names with a pretty bad prior family situation they need all the distance from that they can get.

It’d be pretty hard to top their adoption/staying with their siblings. ;)

Caylee is what she changed her name to; they don’t mention what their names used to be.

I honestly didn’t know how much I needed to read good news until I started tearing up about two sentences in. It’s such a grim time at home, in the US, and globally that the constant onslaught of sadness and horror have been grinding me down without me even noticing how much. Thank you for posting something happy.

The biggest c word is car! Those folks will need a 15 passenger van to drive around in.

From Ohio 4-H (rabbits) and BPA nursing homes and the handicapped were major community service work. Happy to see that these children were able to be adopted by a family that loves them regardless of color. Doesn’t happen often in Ohio

“The adopted children actually changed their names to be of one accord with the family.”

I’m just gonna keep starring your comments because you’re 100% right and I’m not detecting any fallacies. It’s strange to me that one might find absolutely no contradiction between being a “woke” black person and having a white partner (esp. if one prefers a white partner, which is not always the case).

He makes me tired. They’re not even original anymore. And it’s screamingly clear they don’t read ... they just jump on in and opine.

OH Dear God not the mebbe the only woman to give a black man chance is a white woman nonsense

Eartha Kitt: Oh yes, that caused the resentment. I was married to Bill McDonald in 1960. People would say ‘Why didn’t you marry a Black man?’ I would reply “because the white girls had them!” The men I wanted to be with, Sidney Poitier, Harry Belafonte, dated predominatly white women. I’m talking about the 50s.

Hot take, Boo. I hadn’t thought of Chris ignoring Georgina in that way, though his lame dismissal of her with the cliche black man response: “some woc hate black men who are with ww”, caught my ear and made me think this: Jordan is taking a shot at black women.. but he just played himself and I don’t know if he knows

Also – and I’ve been figuring out a way to write about this – a whole lot of what you just said shows up - consciously or unconsciously - in the movie itself.

Is that the case? What has Peele done to help the Black community?

It’s pretty easy for a rich man to find a beautiful woman to marry. I have difficulty believing that only one woman would be willing to give a rich man a chance. That’s not how it works.

I do not understand to need to project more than what I said. I am not a proponent of anti-miscegenation, I don’t have a stance on interracial relationships. Marry whoever you want, no problems here. Race is not a White construct, it has been weaponized by White people to ensure their supremacy.

If we agree he’s not the wokest brother, what is the point of you projecting my interpretation to be more harsh than it is? I didn’t say his kids weren’t really Black. I said they are whiter than him, and they are. That’s not up for debate. He had an opportunity to use civil marriage to distribute his wealth in the

I am not looking down on him. I am simply not looking *up* to him as ‘the wokest brother on the planet.’

Whoa, wait. I hope you’re not personally offended. I don’t believe every Black man can have any Black woman he wants. He also shouldn’t have to “suffer”a Black woman if he prefers White women. Let’s not pretend every Black man of resources is with White women because there are no Black women ‘on his level’ or ‘in his

Which point? The one-drop rule is a White construct, not a Black truth. I said his kids are *whiter*than he is. That’s true.
