I’m going to be Captain Obvious here- there are lots of people who don’t spend hundreds of dollars to see pop stars, or video games, or even food. The Met has been free because as an institution (with help from the government and donors) they decided that even people who can’t shell out to see Taylor Swift should

Thank you for writing this and the When Can I say I’ll be Alone Forever article! People are continually sold the lie that if they just try A,B,C then everything will fall into place and they’ll meet someone. The reality is too scary. It’s hard, love is fucking mean. And really great people sometimes never partner up,

Man this hits so close to home. Life isn’t bad as a single person, but I’m in my early thirties and I’ve never had a long-term relationship. I have tried to fix everything that people have told me is wrong with me. I have dated and dated and dated. I’ve put myself out there to the point I’ve had to rebuild my

When the first guy I dated after years of being alone (because of weird emotionally abusive almost relationship fucked me up) ghosted me, I was shocked by how devastated I was. It had only been 3 dates. It wasn’t like I was in love. You perfectly described that feeling. It was shocking and abrasive. I’ve had trouble

“What I’ve actually learned is that the work of keeping your path clear is a continual process, one so all-consuming that you may not ever have the time to look up and see where you’re going”

Yep. Younger people tend to forget they were born into this world that was shaped by people of Cher’s generation. People who had to fight to get where we are today, people who held racist, sexist, homophobic views who have changed with exposure and education. Hell not even just Cher’s lifetime. In my lifetime. Just

Too many now a days forget that humans are capable of changing.

Not defending Kaya, but many Native Americans never lived on a reservation.

Please tell me more things you hate.

You seem fun

I see the Royal Shakespeare Company productions broadcast in movie theaters all the time. Sure it’s not exactly the same as seeing it live, but it’s a lot more accessible than flying to London for it. They also show opera regularly in movie theaters. They could easily do it with musicals if they wanted to.

I’m gonna get raked over hot coals for this but I kind of think that productions like these play a very shitty game of saying “EVERYONE SHOULD SEE THIS” and “SUCH AN IMPORTANT AND MOVING SHOW” and then jacking their prices up like crazy due to a completely dumb artificial scarcity.

Prince Michael of Kent, and his wife, the former Baroness Christine Marie Von Reibnitz, now Princess Michael of Kent, an echo of her husband’s title. She can’t be Princess Christine.

Princess Michael is a well-known horrible person and also a well-known bigot.

Thank you for this oddly comforting little piece of advice!

I’m a 20-something, and when I’m home for Christmas or whatever I love to hit up old favorites when my folks/siblings are at work. My sister thinks this is an incredibly odd and eccentric thing to do, especially at our little local diner. I say I’m a hungry

That wasn’t really the point I was making. There may be some correlation between the cost of a dish and the perceived expense of the ingredients (vegetables vs meat vs seafood), but that doesn’t mean that a restaurant’s steak frites is necessarily any better-tasting than their ratatouille or worse than their

This terrible but at my college job we had two dessert cases on opposite sides of the floor and I’d always suggest a dessert out of whichever case I was closest to at the time.

They get to keep their job.

When I worked at an ice cream parlor and someone asked me for a recommendation, I always named whatever ice cream was the easiest to scoop that day.

... but then again — it’s ice cream. It’s ALL good.
