The whole religion took a real left turn as soon as Paul started writing about it. I feel that Catholics and Protestants are equally at fault when it comes to ignoring Christ’s teachings, but in different ways, and for different reasons.

The list of things that Christians, and especially the Catholics, do entirely against the teachings and actions of Jesus is enough to fill the bible.

They don’t have the political power in Europe that they have here, tho, so we’re still worse off.

To be fair, it’s rare and newsworthy in the UK... we have a few thousand actually “religious” Christians, and they’re mainly over 65.

Ah yes, I know those Christians well. Bet they also scream about “Sharia Law” and then want laws based on Christianity.

The whole ‘pagans are satanists’ thing was just a pretext for the Holy Roman Empire to force people to convert. It’s unfortunate that it survives to this day, given the fact that Jesus himself said it was fine to coexist with, and pay taxes to, pagan emperors.

Most recently, police say, a group held a purported exorcism outside the shop and threatened to burn it down.

It makes me so happy when people politely ask if they can pet my dog, especially when I see them teaching their kids to do the same thing.

People who just run up to dogs and start petting them (especially the ‘hand-over-head’ pet) without so much as asking the dog’s hooman drive me bonkers. I always ask 1) if a dog is friendly and 2) if I can give them a pet, then 3) hold my hand down for said doggo to give a sniff to see if they’d like me to pet them…

Have definitely walked past someone and said “He’s friendly” and gotten the response “He’s not.” No issues with that. I appreciate you letting me know.

As for the pulling and barking, I personally deal with that by disciplining my dog and pulling him into the grass so he doesn’t get to say hi. I only let my dog say hi…

I had an incident like that in my neighborhood and it drives me nuts when people think that it’s fine because their dog is friendly.

It’s not especially strong or brave to flee from rape charges and hole up until the case is dropped. A more conventionally brave approach might be to stand trial in an attempt to prove your innocence. Running and hiding seems like something other than brave.
