As someone already mentioned, that’s not what cheating is about. However, I don’t really get why Angelina Jolie is considered to be *that* beautiful, like to the point that people would compare someone as beautiful as Marion Cotillard unfavorably to her. They’re both lovely in their own way. Anyway, neither here nor

I had no idea Martin Short was an oil exec.

I completely agree. However in this case the article implies that many people in Hollywood knew about the abuse and were afraid to speak up because the rapist is so famous and powerful. So it’s not an instance of a pedophile being so good he goes unnoticed, more that he’s so powerful he can shut everyone up. But

I agree, but the article implies that a lot of people knew what the rapist was doing and said nothing because he is so famous and powerful. I have a hard time believing that people would be universally singing Tom Hanks’ praises if that were the case. They may keep quiet, but I doubt they’d be monsters enough to talk

Kiefer Sutherland is too young, not a family man, and wasn’t hugely popular until the late 80s. The rapes started in 1982 if the article is correct.

I’ve heard a few blind items of that nature, but he wasn’t super famous in the early 80s so it’s not Kevin Spacey.

Spacey wasn’t popular in the early 80s when Haim was raped.

I can’t tell which comment you’re replying to for some reason.

I don’t see RDJ being described as a family man. I mean, I know he’s married and has kids but he was more of a Hollywood bad boy. He also wasn’t hugely famous in the early 80s. Whoever the rapist is would have had the power and influence to keep everyone silent about the abuse. He was on SNL in 1985 and did Less Than

Yes, I agree. Though the article seemed to imply that this was a dirty little secret known throughout Hollywood, but that the rapist was powerful and famous enough to keep it from seeing the light of day. If so many within Hollywood knew what was going on but felt they couldn’t say, I don’t think they would be singing

Oh, I know. I only mentioned that because the article did. Kiefer Sutherland, Michael J. Fox and Rob Lowe were all too young and/or not really hyper-famous enough in 1982 to have been the person described.

    It’s not Tom Hanks.

Kiefer was a kid himself in 1982.

It’s not Tom Hanks. He really is that nice (multiple sources I trust), plus he had only been in Bosom Buddies at that point (1982). Hardly a mega-powerful star yet.

I know it seems crazy but I have a couple of “first-degrees-of-separation” with Tom Hanks and he really is every bit as kind as he seems. Truly.

Yeah, and Kiefer doesn’t seem like he has that much power in Hollywood. At least not the kind that would allow him to keep a secret like that. Plus no one would call him a family man.

I kinda got the feeling she was saying that to embarrass him because of his David Duke comment. But that could just be me reading into it.

Cruise was only 20 in 1982, and had only been in a couple of films by then.

Tom Hanks had only been in Bosom Buddies by 1982 (if the first rape took place when Haim was 11). He wasn’t a megawatt star yet. Plus, I know from first-hand accounts of people who have worked with him that he’s every bit as nice as he seems. No worries there.

It says the first rape happened when Haim was 11, so 1982. The rapist had to be someone who was a really big star at that point, and still is today. And probably someone who was at least 21, if not older, in 1982. Otherwise it would have been considered “teens fooling around” even though Haim was so young.
