Uff da!
Crossover event, “oh margie”
Well, so I’m tending bar up there at the Land of Always Winter last Tuesday and this little guy’s drinking and he says, “So where can a guy find some action? I’m goin’ crazy out there at the frozen lake.” And I says, “What kind of action?” And he says, “Dragon action. What do I look like?” And I says, “Well what do I…
I always enjoy watching the episode the next day in 4K […]
He doesn’t see everything all at once like Dr. Manhattan. He needs an idea of what he’s supposed to be looking for.
Right? More so than any other people on the show, the unsullied have suffered, and suffered, and suffered, and yet they still keep going. As a collective whole, they remind me of this short story Neil Gaiman wrote a few years ago called “The Price.” It’s a story about a stray cat that protects a family from a demon by…
During the retreat, I kept thinking about the degree to which this wasn’t their fight (high).
It was an episode that took pains to remind us of how far Arya has come. As much as I love that Syrio quote, nothing made me smile as big as her timeless advice to Sansa “Stick them with the pointy end.”
Dicks out for the unsullied. That fighting retreat made me cry like a baby. Everytime they shouted “Hoo!” in the face of extinction, I was like “Westeros doesn’t deserve you!”
My tv’s resolution wasn’t great, but generally it looked fantastic, even when I couldn’t see anything (in the sense that the characters also couldn’t see anything). The scenes with the Dothraki were especially great: Melisandre lighting all their swords on fire, and then all the fires getting snuffed out as they hit a…
Oh yah, winter’s coming, dontchaknow. Heckuva deal for us white walkers.
I kind of wish he had a super heavy Minnesotan accent, and I also kind of wish when he killed Theon he would have looked right at the camera and had asked: “Cold enough for ya?”.
Staging a horse battle at night is probably pretty dangerous, too. Wights are people, too (at least, they’re often played by people).
I thought about it and realized the reason why they had the Dothraki die in the night was not only to make the dead army seem invincible, but also to save money on the FX budget. Horse combat is almost certainly more expensive to film and they got it out of the way ASAP without really showing much of anything.
“White Walkers HATE her! This one neat dagger trick will end the Long Night”
The Night King doesn’t feel like a villain. He’s more like a natural disaster, or Godzilla. I like that he didn’t start explaining himself in a pleasant baritone.
I always enjoy watching the episode the next day in 4K much more than the live version the night it airs. Hate the blotchy gray/black as seen in the OP.
Buying a box of hardboiled eggs from a foodservice distributor and avoiding the drama of peeling 32 eggs for deviled eggs for the family picnic is so cool. I have not done it yet, but the next time I need a ton of hardboiled eggs, I am going that route.
Time is elastic and pitch has been imprisoned. You dig what I'm saying? You want to put music in a little jail on the clock with a punchcard, man. All Taylorized and shit. But music will let you listen in anyway because it's generous. It's got a generous spirit, dig?
