I pledge allegiance to a piece of cloth, and, oh yeah, the country (very specifically a *republic*) for which it’s being a proxy...one nation (with all kinds of states rights that contradict each other), invisible (unless you’re some special kind of southerner), with liberty (as long as you do what doesn’t offend me),

what difference does it make if its based on religious or political beliefs? we do not live under a dictatorship, and this kid has every right to participate or not. he already has the strength and courage to be a future leader of this country.

People who demand respect or obedience to symbols or the rote chanting of words don’t really understand the whole point of the American Revolution. This is a brave little boy exercising his rights as as an American.
