The article you reference no longer states anywhere that they were chained, and the CNN report has a spokesperson clearly stating that the women were seat-belted in, and the deputies were unable to get the doors open to rescue them due to the rising water.

I don’t think anyone has an issue with the patients being moved from one hospital to another. I think the huge issue is the fact they were chained in a van during that transport from one location to another, which caused them to end up dead when the van traversed onto flooded roadways. 

I’m so filled with rage and sadness at this story. To the children and families of the two women who died: I am so sorry for your loss, your mothers/sisters/daughters deserved so much better.

I’m sorry you had to learn that the hard way, as most of us do. It’s insane how easily you can lose your freedom over something so inconsequential as “Yeah, I mean, I was depressed a while back.” It’s also sad that I no longer trust doctors, psychiatrists, or social workers anymore as a result of my experiences.

I’ve been depressed and slacked on dental hygiene. Especially when I was out of work, when no one was going to see or breathe me in anyway. I also fell off medication this way, and pretty much let my whole life spiral out of control. So, that first guy? Heck, no judgement. Depression sucks.
