I can take a picture of a homeless guy to
The planes are doing all their maneuvers at a height at which they can recover, hence no fireballs every maneuver. Additionally, the airplanes move very fast and can cover several thousand feet in a few seconds. Even if you were sitting 5000 ft away you would not necessarily be any safer.
It’s like when I went to Mesa Verde a couple weeks back. Someone asked the guide what keeps the deteriorating rock ceiling from falling down. The guide told them that they are in a 700 year old building and there are inherent risks to the activity.
I am not one of those people that supports banning activities just because someone has died doing it.
After the P-51 crash at the Reno Air Race, the NTSB said that air races (and by extension, airshows), despite all safety precautions, are an inherently dangerous event and no amount of safety will make it immune to accidents.
Airspace extends all the way to the ground. There are altitude restrictions minimum 500 ft in rural areas and 1000ft in Urban, but the airspace goes all the way to the surface.
Not to mention the 30mm gun on the AH-64D has about half the kinetic energy delivery that the A-1 does.
I prefer the OV-10.
I have a solution:
There is a little kit jet called the SubSonex and on its maiden flight it was doing aileron rolls. Much braver than me.
Between this and the J-31, I don't see the F-35 having a long spanning export market.
That's what I understand as well. Apparently the J-20 is going to have that so it doesn't have to worry so much with the canards
And that system was in its second generation already and is now in its third generation. I really don't understand why they didn't try to get a jump start with Trophy
Ideally, you go for an Armata approach and incorporate it into the design so you have multiple sensors and firing locations.
Yah. There are so many things to go wrong with that! If any one of those little rockets didn't fire, you essentially may have just shot the tank or random bystanders with a baby RPG
Lasers require a lot of energy. Combine that with vehicles like the Abrams which pretty much pour fuel out, and you have a logistical nightmare trying to get fuel for your vehicles.
Yah. The artillery thing remind me of how the old Soviet ISU-152 didn't even need to hit a Panzer IV to destroy it.
Yep. That’s why that one DARPA concept had me facepalming (GVX I think it was, the one where it’s a 4x4 that tries to dodge incoming shots).
So I take it we are resorting to new tactics to alleviate our bomb shortage.
