Oh, definitely. I don't think there are xenomorphs at all, merely some type of organism that grows inside a host in some way. I think, though, that at the end of this film we'll get some idea of how the organism who lays the eggs from Alien comes to be.

I agree. Others have pointed out that large space jockey fellow appears to actually die, most likely earlier-ish, and possibly goes explody into a proto-xenomorph, which is the parasite attached to space jockey dna. Meanwhile, once it bonds with people, we get the alien we know and love.

not the first time he released it. It was vetted in a very normal fashion, and people decided it wasn't good enough and they needed some other form, which took time. Then even the other better form wasn't good enough, they needed the long form.
