Ok, so they attempted to fullly reboot the sonic franchise. But it ended up being a glitchy mess that pissed off the fans. It went down in history as the thing that basically caused Yuji Naka the creator of Sonic, to quit the whole Sonic thing. He also died and came back to life with a kiss from a princess.
