"Beauty standards are too narrow." That is a valid point. "Women are valued more for their appearance than their musical talent." That would have been a valid point. "Beauty is a prerequisite for a woman to exist no matter how talented she is." That would have been a fair point.
So when Carly Rae Jepsen and Zooey Deschanel dress kinda demurely, they're infantilizing themselves and therefore Part Of The Problem, but when Miley and Rihanna get nearly-naked, they're objectifying themselves and also Part Of The Problem.
