This is reminding me of an interesting discussion I had with some friends- the idea of making traffic fines (namely speeding tickets) proportional to the offenders income came up. That’s a pretty good idea to punish everyone fairly, but we also discussed how it’s way more dangerous to everyone around you when you’re

In today’s money, the cost of those cars is (rounded to the hundred):

Fun fact- on most cars with the tilt-in-reverse side mirrors, if you put the mirror adjustment selection switch in the middle/neutral position, it will disable that feature.

“Separate the art from the artist” works when you’re talking about long-dead people who lived in bygone eras where the most fiercely progressive people were shunned and outcast for crazy ideas like “maybe black folks aren’t sub-human”.

But the Tweet Man said his cars werent even gonna have steering wheels in the near future of two years ago!

Given how often FSB does something I would expect from a teenager on their phone or someone in their 90’s who should be in a home, seems like they’ve done a great job!

I had the same thought with the ZDX.

Acura ZDX, deadass.

I said “infeasible” not “impossible”. I’m not claiming the physics don’t line up or fuel cells are a government conspiracy.

Solar cars exist and have for a while, they just don’t make any economic sense right now. Even the best solar panels on the market in the best conditions only get you a couple miles of driving per

Solar Cars are like Clean Coal or Hydrogen Airplanes… it takes about two minutes of napkin math to prove them completely infeasible.

In Phoenix, wrong-way drivers on the highways have become such a huge problem that there are sensors and warning systems for it now.

We have those silly “One Vehicle Per Green” stop lights on most entrance ramps which definitely don’t actually help, but if you ever see those lamps flashing red, it means a wrong-way

“Gliders” just refer to new cabs sold without a drivetrain. These are popular with OO’s because, especially with older drivetrains, the cabs get run down and beat up a lot faster than the engines. OO’s can salvage some of their initial investment and continue using an engine and transmission they’re familiar with,

And I’m sure folks in Arizona and Nevada aren’t exactly tossing 2023 Freightliners into the ditch in favor of the used 2008 version getting kicked out of Cali. This sudden bounty of used hardware trying to escape Cali’s ban will provide opportunities for businesses to upgrade from even OLDER engines at better prices

So… it’s a 2nd gen NSX?

It cannot possibly be understated how the uninformed should NOT visit r/eyeblech.

This reads less like a car review and more like a civilization-scale cult experience. Glad you could ask some tough questions and voice some criticisms without getting “lost”!

Good point! Emergency alerts to phones could include information about long-term messaging on FM and AM. I do think to a certain extent, in a really catastrophic situation, without cell service, a good enough proportion of people would try the radio.

I fucking hate the radio. Hate it. Especially nowadays, if theres a good morning talkshow, they’re uploading as a podcast. I hate the ads, I hate the awful personalties and weird transitions. The audio quality is dogshit. And did I mention the ads?

Oh for sure- great point. 500mi is probably the max, and I’m sure they’re trying to sell these as sleepers eventually once the charging infrastructure is better.

What can I say, I really like the way my keyboard sounds.
