To make sure you know it’s not one of BMW’s “Gran Coupe” models, which, of course, are four door coupes, a very real and normal thing that BMW has pulled straight out of their ass.

That’s fair! We had a pretty good experience at Kia. Pretty middle-of-the-road, mostly because we wanted to see the Niro Hybrid and the guy was a grumpy boomer who was clearly not just completely ignorant about EVs and Hybrids, but pretty biased against them. We didn’t get to the point of getting a quote because,

This is interesting to hear- GF has been shopping for a new car and I’ve been tagging along.

Hyundai has been the best dealership experience by far here in Phoenix, maybe tied with Mazda.

TL;DR: I’ve had the exact opposite experience!

Some of it, as others have mentioned, is that VWG is being much more conservative with their batteries, so expect the packs on a Taycan to last longer, even when tracked.

My dumb ass, engineering degree and all, was about to protest that going from 11’ 8” to 12’ 4” is only an increase of 6 inches, not 8.

Go watch better streamers like Shroud or Aculite.

What, in your eyes, made the gunplay look horrible in that clip?

In defense of the Rav4 specifically, the new Rav4 is genuinely fantastic. Not “Fantastic for a Crossover”- genuinely amazing.

VERY premium feeling at all trim levels, good driving feel, and actually pretty good to look at now. I appreciate them pulling design inspiration from the 4Runner and Tacoma instead of upsizing

To my knowledge, they aren’t using hub motors at each wheel, its inbound motor and gearbox pairs with half-shafts to the wheels for long suspension travel.

Well that, and its not like their engineers are all 21 year old noobs fresh out of school.

Nah, I’m just an accomplished mechanical engineer in the automotive industry. What would I know.

When did I talk about what consumers care about?

I think its important to remember that Rivian has been around and working hard for a decade. Its easy to act as if they’re another Faraday Future thats come out of thin air and made massive promises with nothing more than artistic renders.

The comments are FILLED with people calling this thing a “Crossover” and that has me seriously worried.

There are TWO FULL SIZE CLASSES smaller than this before you get to sedans/wagons. The highlander is fucking big, my dudes!

It’s an SUV, full stop!

Please stop calling this thing a crossover. That is a dim future of

I would spend luxury roadster money on an electric S2000 with modern amenities. Doesn’t even have to break 300 miles of range, but breaking 300 hp would be ideal.

[Laughs in EV]

Charger access for people in cities is improving wildly. Most major apartment complexes with garages are installing chargers. I also charge primarily at work.

That being said, I do actually agree wholeheartedly that BMW is half-assing it. My i3 made sense lightly used for $15k, but why on gods green earth they think a

Very shortsighted of you to see them as a “novelty”.

I daily drive a 115 mile range BMW i3 and it’s more than enough. It has literally never been a problem.
