I usually go for the “decent but not too expensive” tires until I splurged on some Michelin’s the last time out on our SUV. Life-changing, even on a non-performance car.

Back in 2012, before my then-girlfriend-no-wife and I were making good money, she needed tires for her Camry. She found some linglongs online and asked me about them. NOPE! I took her car to discount tire and got their store brand Arizonian Silver Editions. They’re made by cooper, and essentially the same tire as

Tires. Don’t buy the cheap Chinese/Taiwanese tires that are extremely hard and increase your braking distance. They lack grip and tend to handle abysmally in the rain. There’s plenty of cheap tires made by proper tire manufacturers you should buy instead if you’re working with a limited budget.

I love Harbor Freight for what it is, but it’s definitely hit-or-miss. I have some amazing tools from there - like a $25 2-in-1 brad nailer/stapler that I’ve probably put 25,000 fasteners through without one jam. But I’ve also bought the worst set of spade and Forstner bits I’ve ever used - completely dull. Replaced

Anything that doesn’t come from Harbor Freight.

Sorry, but speaking strictly as a car enthusiast, I laughed at the Camry then and still laugh at it. It’s been the automotive equivalent of a Sears Kenmore refrigerator, with the Kenmore having slightly better styling.

Whoa, hang on now, I know the midsize sedan segment has been obliterated in the past couple years, but at a minimum, the Camry is easily a better car to drive than the Altima and Sonata/Optima (outgoing gen at least, I have no time in the new one). It’s not exciting, but it’s utterly competent. I’m sure the Accord is

It is for a niche market.

I never thought I'd long for one but thanks to a sea of lame SUVs and the first interesting Camry design in... well, ever, I'd seriously consider one of the TRD editions.

Mazda6 is the best handling mid priced sedan right now. The new Camry is better than most, but Mazda nails handling.

Once you get older and appreciate a good quality car, you see things differently.

The thing is, the Accord is JUST as reliable and a whole lot more fun to drive. Or a Mazda6, or any of the other beige midsizers. The Camry is just the utter bottom of the barrel of the class.

Very good point. Bought my first of many cheap junkers when I turned 16, back in 1972. The first three I had to tow home and then rebuild, that’s all I could afford back then. Here’s the list of cars I’d driven until my first new car, a 1980 Honda Civic. What a difference in quality, ride, economy and reliability. I

I would place the XV10 somewhere on my personal top ten list of “greatest sedans ever,” even though I have no desire to own a Camry of any sort. And speaking as someone older than the Camry nameplate, even though it’s not the car for me I am glad there is a nameplate that can be relied upon to generally be stolid

Part of G/O Media’s plan to drive away commenters, but it wasn’t working fast enough, so they just started kneecapping Kinja even further?

Cost-effective, reliable, anti-sporting midsized transportation applies to both. The new ones are probably cheaper in build and materials, probably equal in life-cycle cost and roughly equal in useful life cycle.

As a former NM resident, the drunk driving problem is rampant. This…is a very specific incident and this new law is not a way to curb the problem.

Official tally as of yesterday was 12 dead. In pictures and videos alone I’ve seen more than those. I’m guessing those videos and pictures will be off of WC soon.

My guess is even if all of those people in the subway die we’ll never hear anything official about it. There’s been multiple flooding incidents that haven’t gotten reported internationally that look like they’re about on par with what happened in Germany recently. I guess it depends on what the CCP lets out of the
