They cost more than $30K, so what are you’re talking about?

I know people are short sighted. That’s why I doubted they did what I did and went to a fuel efficient sedan. Sure when I need to transport a bike or something big it’s a pain but I’m loving my average 38-40MPG as opposed to my old 19 MPG (if I was lucky!) SUV.
I do feel for the people who are living check to check though.
also FAR less likely they can afford a newer, more efficient car.
I agree that people are not going to make the knee jerk reaction to get a new car to save gas. In 2008, my car averaged 15mpg, now my car averages 34mpg and my wife’s 2 cars(She is WFH) average 18mpg each. The weighted average of our increase is likely 85% better compared to 2008. We won’t sell the inefficient cars,…
People don’t usually make their car purchases with logic in mind.
And I have a boss that will not pay overtime.
“everyone to blame Joe Biden, even though he won’t have much to do with it”
^ This. As a former fleet manager just this. I had several of the same models and yes, some were better built than others. If you asked me which vehicle was the most reliable - it would be a 2013 Chevy Impala. But I had five of them, but this one would run, the other four had 3 transmissions between them (one had 2…
Yeah but how many O2 sensors and coil packs do you have to replace to get to 100k?
Maybe the original owners got tired of replacing the DRL bulbs.
It’s a sellers market for both new and used cars. “Trading up” with your strong trade-in value will get eaten up by the strong price (market adjustments, or lack of incentives) on the new car.
I had an 84 Jetta that was an early production model- getting parts was a nightmare as the VIN didn’t match up to things- it had different door hinges and some weird trim and seats
Inevitably there’s someone who gets really defensive about some brands. Unreliable doesn’t mean 100% of cars will fail at a predetermined mileage. It means the odds of problems are a lot higher than other brands and the risk will only increase with age.
At 100K, a VW engineer “get his wings”. As a result, no one want to roll over the odometer and kill a German engineer.
Maybe the pilot has just had a long fucking day and wants to have a cigarette in peace without a bunch of whiny bitch-ass passengers complaining about the smell and how smoking and flying is “dangerous” and you should have your hands at 10 and 2 or whatever on the yoke. I mean, fuck off.
Yet when my kid opens their window on the interstate in my mundane little car it feels like a pressure hammer smacking my eardrums repeatedly and everything goes flying.
