Well of course Volkswagen EV motors are different with things no one else is doing. It takes next level engineering skill to create parts that skillfully fool diagnostic equipment while appearing to have a real world function. VW is better at this than anyone in the world.

“Maybe I missed it, but where is the turboencabulator located?”

An “engineering powerhouse” that had to lie to meet emissions standards?

Maybe I missed it, but where is the turboencabulator located?

Large auto chains barely troubleshoot now, they just replace parts.

Beautifully said. My Neon had much more...charm, than my Cruze. Is the Cruze a “better” vehicle? In every objective way, 100%. And maybe it’s nostalgia bias, but I even feel that way when I have to drive our shitty 24-year-old Corolla. There’s a simplicity and feeling that is missing from today’s rolling social-isolati

Cars all became our friend who aced the SAT, got his business degree, and is now doing a solid job raising his two kids in the suburbs while working his way up through middle management at a regional accounting firm. He’s a good friend and can hold his liquor on the semi-monthly occasion he comes out with us.

I had one of the first-year Cavalier hatchbacks (1982 model), before the Z24 version. It was red with the dark grey interior and had the 1.8L with manual transmission. The reverse switch for the taillights broke at 1000 miles and it took the dealer four tries to repair. Then the rear oil seal went at 13,000 miles,

I did have to double check to see if this was one of David’s articles when I saw the garden hose bushing.

Hopefully Officer Gallant called for backup:

It’s a Mitsubishi Outlander.  Replacing the windshield may total the thing.

Windshield! That’s a down payment on a new car!

They obviously didn’t yank on the straps and say “yeah that ain’t going anywhere” before they drove off. #1 rule of securing a load.

If they can keep the board, they can easily pay for a new windshield! /s

Why do you hate immigrants?  That’s racist.

to be clear, I never said mine was a bright idea

That depends on what the felony warrant was for. It certainly looks like some vice was involved in that repair job.

Some people have no appreciation for adventure!

I fixed my brakes with a coathanger once.

There are shops that don’t take a $100 part from Rock Auto and quote me $300 for it?  Not that I like it, but seemed pretty much SOP for the industry.
