I'm not sure what the hostility is for—I've worked in this field and I know that it's not a simple fix. No one is saying we should throw up our hands and curse the futility of it all, but the commentariat should be informed about the issue.

Because burners are a big part of what defines Kinja. If I post on Gawker and Jalopnik under a burner and decide to post on Jezebel, I would need to log out and log back in under a different username. That's not how Kinja works, fundamentally.
