I’m in a very similar situation as this guy for picking my next ride (must be domestic, midsize SUV/wagon) and I looked hard at the Blazer. It’s honestly not bad, it’s just wildly overpriced. The Edge and Grand Cherokee are both ancient, but you get more for your money. That’s it unless you step up into the 3-row

I think most people that get a Tahoe/Suburban these days get them because they can tow ~6500 lbs. No crossovers are rated that high to my knowledge, and if you have to bring the whole family and a trailer/small boat on a trip that’s really one of your only options.

Agreed. Someone here got a new Ram that’s dark blue with chrome trim. I’m not even a truck guy and I think it looks fantastic.

Was behind one of these in traffic the other day, I had forgotten how hideous they really are. Even my wife, who rarely comments on vehicles, made a remark about it.

It’s worth remembering that Ford has been working on autonomous tech as long as anybody. This link is a few years old, but it’s worth remembering.

It’s not a huge segment, but it’s there. Seems to be plenty of people who want more space than an escape but don’t want to deal with the size of an explorer. I was one of those people and was this close to getting an edge, but I just couldn’t get over that it’s the same interior as the fusions I’ve had for the past 5

It seems very unlikely Ford will exit the segment. They may end up killing off this current Edge, but they will have something. It’s a nice compromise between the compact Escape and the quite large Explorer. I’d guess they end up basing it on a modified version of either the Explorer or Escape platform, rather than

No, but it’s not like the vents will generate excess cash they can use to prop up other parts of the business. That’s really what they need right now.

I’m not sure that’s affecting their bottom line much. I believe GM has said they were planning to sell them at cost. Not sure about Ford. If that’s true there wouldn’t be any extra cash from that to support operations elsewhere.

This just makes me miss the TourX even more. Tried to place a factory order for one recently but no dice. Maybe MB will have more success charging twice as much...

Automated driver aids are banned in F1, and something that automatically adjusts toe angle on the fly would almost certainly fall under that banner. See Renault being disqualified for a race last year for an automated brake bias system.

I’m on my second Fusion, and this is spot on. I went from the 2.0T to the Sport and both felt slower than the spec sheet would suggest. Something about the transmission or turbo lag or even just throttle pedal tuning makes it less exciting than it could be.

It’s entirely possible that these other startups thought of doing the same, but I doubt Bosch or Magna would have been interested in getting too involved with such a fledgling outfit. I imagine a big company like Sony would get a much different reception.

The Journey and Challenger are like 2 sides of the same coin - they succeed because there’s nothing else quite like it left in their respective segments.

Agreed with some other posters - trailer with batteries in the floor might work, but there’s no reason for it to have it’s own motors. That’s more weight and complexity than just feeding that extra juice to the batteries/motor in the vehicle. There’s plenty of torque in those motors already.

There’s a guy in my office who’s like this - he’ll forego other options that are in budget to get the largest wheels available. He’d rather have big wheels than heated seats, and we live in New England!

That’s a good point. But the job market in general is pretty tight right now, so if people want to go outside automotive there’s probably plenty of opportunity.

1st - moves like this might help in the short term, but it leads to more pain in the long run. When a company starts cutting things like travel expenses to save a buck and cutting pay people start looking at other jobs. The ones that leave tend to be some of your most valuable employees too, as they’re the ones that

I’m guessing there’s a “no more than” missing in front of 1200.

My thinking exactly. She wants another crossover, and this would be perfect for her commute (20 mi each way, but she might be able to plug in at work).
