I live in the midwest, and you would be surprised that we also have art scenes and gardens and minority neighborhoods to fret over and food scenes. But every year white people from here flee to either coast and act like its an accomplishment or the only way to live.

Yep. Couldn’t tell you if it was any good or not, but I’ve seen one moving under its own power, and the front end didn’t fall off or anything so I guess so.

How about the diabolically complex front suspension of the Rover 2000?

Then again, this is a Citroen Hydropneumatic. If you look under the hood of a RR featuring this suspension, you will find type plates saying “Patent Andre Citroen” ... Any DS/SM/GS/CX/BX/Xantia has this feature. I know, I have/had DS, BX and CX cars. :)

I know this well. Learn to replace bushings.

The beam axle on the 2011-2013 Jetta S, which was strange because someone at VW thought it was somehow not ridiculous to have a non-independent rear end on a modern FWD compact.

Hydropneumatics aren’t really ‘strange’ because they work brilliantly on much the same principle as normal springs and dampers, only their nature makes them better and adjustable. It’s actually more strange that archaic steel springs are still around.

Now playing

This morning before I went to my buddies garage to change my oil and top up my gas for the week, I went out for a drive.

Listen everyone, we’ve all been there. The guy in the car next to you thinks he’s hot shit and you want to take him down a peg. Maybe there’s a girl in your passenger seat. Maybe you know the guy and you have a friendly rivalry. Maybe you just want to show off.

This poster becomes a lot less cute after you find out it was created by a 38-year-old Rand Paul supporter.

The original Renault Twingo. See the resemblance?

Jalopnik: WE NEED MORE HATCHBACK PERFORMANCE CARS! WE NEED MORE QUIRKY WEIRD CARS! WE NEED MORE RISKY CARS! WE NEED MORE REASONABLY USEABLE PERFORMANCE CARS! ARGH WE HAVE UNREASONABLE DEMANDS THAT DON’T MAKE BUSINESS SENSE FOR MANUFACTURERS!!

Not every french car is a Citroen.

Also, the Corvair influenced the styling of a _lot_ of european cars, and all BMW’s from the Neue Klasse up until Chris Bangle’d it up.

Don’t hook your thumbs over the wheel when it shifts from first to second

Because falling-apart rust buckets on the road is so much better...

Got new tires for my GTV6 from Discount Tire.

Wasn’t the original Focus ST the Focus ST?

The Peugeot 106. Utterly fantastic to drive, from the 1.0 to the GTi. A few review excerpts:

Are we talking new cars (or cars that are still being sold), or any hatchback ever created?
