Years back a panicked deer barreling down a mountainside nearly wiped out my wife and young son hiking behind me. The stupid thing just erupted onto the path from the woods and dove straight into the woods on the other side. If we had been maybe 20 second slower, the damn thing could have killed half my family.

Definitely a nice ride. It could use more oomph though.

Nope. Two were just 5 miles from home near Burlington, Vermont. The other in the snowy wasteland between Montreal and the Vermont border.

So much this. We love our Mazda6, but the lack of power is frustrating. This car in -Speed form would be epic.

We own the MT Mazda6 in the Touring trim and are very happy with it. I have no interest in an integrated nav package—I have a large cell phone that kicks ass at that—so the touring is great for us.

Why can we not just cull the hell out of these vermin so they stop denuding forests and gardens, spreading lime disease, and colliding with cars? Deer are the worst.

I know the feeling. My old '09 Honda Fit had three deer encounters in less than a year. The first dove at my passenger side door, but I dodged it. My son riding with me said he could have reached out and touched the deer's nose, it was so close. The second was a freshly struck carcass in the middle of an icy Quebec

Yeah, our '15 Mazda6 does this, and I'm grateful for it. But I had to pay for a second set of TPMS sensors when I got winter wheels for the Abarth.

TPMS.

Abarth was manual only until this year.

Did you end up modding your shifter? I'm considering it myself, though an upgraded rear sway bar is probably my next mod.

Stunning.

The shark analogy is spot on. You can do everything right, but the shark ain't care.

No, there's no issue with water. He's mixing metaphors a bit. In fact, water is a key safety and operational control feature of a nuclear power plant. First, water is an effective radiation shield. Both the highly radioactive spent fuel rods and the nuclear core itself are immersed in water, which shields radiation. A

Well, the nuclear fuel rods in a nuclear plant aren't actually all that radioactive, either. At least, they aren't when they are new. The U-235 fuel pellets in the rods, like the bomb material e holder describes, are rather benign in terms of ambient radioactivity. The fuel is highly dangerous if it's aerosolized or

Rmember it? I loved Final Countdown. One of the all time great time travel movies.

No one knew it at the time, but Montreal would also be the last Olympics to feature both the United States and Soviet Union competing against each other until Seoul in 1988. In 1980, the US boycotted the Moscow games over the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan and in 1984, the USSR boycotted the LA games to get back at

People who slow before inclines should be jailed.

I fully endorse this comment. I drive a Fiat Abarth in Vermont and am in snow all the time. Clearance is definitely an issue, but control is pretty good overall. I think the light weight really helps, since there is much less inertia to contend with when stopping and turning. Driving stick also gives me much more
