rawr Parks & Rec grr Modern Family booo

Ooh, nice version! Hadn't heard that one. For something a little faster, I'm fond of this version by The Young Dubliners (whose singer's voice I ADORE):

I mean, I get that these incidents presumably happen at intervals of like 4 months, but still, you have to show us the good things too, or he looks like a terrifying manipulative guy. (Sybil also looks like a waffler, but given how much she loves her family and how drastic a lifestyle change this would be, I'm willing

But who would play her? She would have to be incredible to live up to Maggie Smith-level expectations!

I can SO see Mary turning into her grandmother. I think she'd be horrified by that, but I think it's amazing.

I think it was about here that I started to really notice the "Just Kidding!" problem. Ugh. Also, last season I loved Branson. This season he's really turned creepy.

Ah, I guess not. It's actually just CBS ripping off ANOTHER property from a foreign country.

Is Quean this supposed Sherlock Holmes thing that everyone who's seen the BBC's Sherlock knows is a terrible idea and is thus perfect for CBS?

3) I hope not. Dave's a little slow, but he's a good guy. I can only handle Ben punching people when they're assholes. If he starts punching people just because he doesn't like them or because he (unreasonably) feels threatened by them, then HE'S the asshole.

Clearly, Leslie and Ben's shared penchant for long titles with repeated syllables is a sign that they are perfect for each other. Though "Low-Cal Calzone Zone" isn't quite up to snuff: Ben needs to practice more.

Guys, I'm pretty sure Pawnee - a relatively large city in Indiana - is meant to be bigger than my hometown, and we have two bowling alleys. Plus, town lines aren't like walls: you can cross them easily, and surely there's a neighboring town at least that has another alley.

I was having the same qualms. But a) I'm pretty sure Amy Poehler has enough clout on this show to change actions that she thinks are out of character for Leslie, and I trust her judgment, and b) I think a HUGE part of the appeal came from how out of character that was for Ben. I mean, about thirty seconds before that

I keep thinking this is one of those fake movies from a movie about actors. It has that kind of ridiculous, too-literal title, "high-stakes" trailer with no actual drama to it, and nonsensical casting.

It's true. But I also have this terrible tendency to hold onto the DVDs for like a month before watching them (unless it's a TV show I want to get through as quickly as possible - freshman year of college, I could watch 4 X-Files episodes in a night), and I didn't want to pay double for something I wasn't going to use.

Television just hasn't been the same since talkies.

I'm mostly really impressed that he's so charming but never strays into smarmy territory. I hate Patrick Dempsey because he never stops looking smug, but I love Matt Bomer. Ironically, I think the guy who plays a doctor seems more like a con man than the guy who plays a con man.

Ugh, same. In general I tend to love-but-not-take-seriously USA shows - Monk, Psych, White Collar: all fun and engaging shows that are worth the hour you spend watching but not much more - but I just want to punch that guy's face.

As was Jessica Chastain, to be fair. Her character could've easily been insufferable in less talented hands, but instead she was incredibly charming and lovable, which is the only way that plotline is interesting.

Ah, I really want to read Okay For Now, but they didn't have it at my local branch of the library the one time I went casually looking for it. (Also, the branch closes at 7, which is when I get home from work, so it's really hard to get there. BOO.) Gary Schmidt is an awesome person. And My Name Is Not Easy, which

I have a signed galley of Dead End in Norvelt that I haven't read yet. Once I finish the other two books I'm in the middle of, I'll have to get to that one.
